If "Journalism" Were Really "Fair and Balanced"
(and other thoughts)
If there were fairness and evenhandedness in the world, and especially if what today passes for “journalism” were actually as “fair and balanced” as it claims to be, then the Lamestream Media would, when reporting on Israel’s war against Hamas, follow the same model it employed when reporting on Trump’s and Trump supporters’ remarks about the 2020 election.
That would mean that every single story about how Israel is conducting the war, whether in print, on radio, or recited on TV by talking heads, would include this key phrase, to wit:
“The Biden Administration has declared, without evidence, that Israel is violating the international rules of war…”
“Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced, without evidence, that Israel is conducting a campaign that disproportionately targets innocent civilians…”
“Pro-Hamas demonstrators assert, without evidence, that Israel is committing genocide…”
“Hamas has released, without evidence, statistics on the numbers of innocent Palestinians killed by Israeli forces…”
Alas, there’s little chance of that happening. But here’s something that I feel — and fear! — is all-too-likely to happen:
Biden & Co. are already floating the propaganda that higher prices are the result of, not inflation caused by truly stupid monetary and economic government policy, but corporate greed.
This is a talking point that the public is expected to believe. And since half the public now seems to consist of useful idiots who not only swallow but gleefully regurgitate such propaganda, one of its premises — that high gas prices are completely unrelated to Biden’s willful reversal of the energy independence that America had enjoyed under Trump — has, for many, already taken on the semblance of fact.
The infamous Dr. Goebbels told us some eight decades ago that any lie big enough and repeated widely enough and often enough can become the truth. And (as I’ve been saying for many years) today’s Leftist propaganda masters make Dr. Goebbels look like a mere tyro.
But how long will it be before this talking point is expanded to connect to the Biden regime’s increasingly obvious anti-Jewish agenda, by implying that the greediest of corporate CEOs are Jewish?
In other words, how long before they blame high gas prices on Da Joos?

P.S. You can call me a cynic; I’ll plead “guilty.” I’m reminded of an AT piece I wrote back in 2018, “You May Say I’m a Cynic, But I’m Not the Only One”, in which, despite my cynicism, I was much more sanguine than I am today about the future of Western Civilization.
P.S. 2: I sometimes forget that history is not really being taught anymore, and so there are likely some readers here who draw a blank at the reference to Dr. Goebbels. Joseph Goebbels [pronounced “GER-buls,” unless one wishes to emulate “The Rev.” Al Sharpton, who says “Gurgles”] was the Nazi party’s and Hitler’s master propagandist, and officially the Third Reich’s Minister of Propaganda from 1931 to 1945.
P.S. 3: I can’t mention “The Rev.” Al Sharpton without feeling obliged to point out that this so-called “Civil Rights leader” has never been held accountable for his role as one of the perpetrators of the Tawana Brawley Hoax, and still has blood on his hands for his role in the massacre at Freddy’s Fashion Mart and the Crown Heights riots. He is a poverty pimp and racial huckster, grifter and charlatan of the lowest order. And he is a close advisor and confidant to Barack Obama, whose hands are pulling Joe Biden’s strings.
